Dear Chairman,
As a disabled person, I am very concerned that in the present pandemic the rights and needs of disabled people are being overlooked when it comes to car parking. Many companies have closed their disabled parking bays in order to provide additional space for queueing.

Shops are the prime example. The disabled parking bays are closer to shop
entrances. Previously I could park in these extra wide bays, take out my wheelchair and be inside a shop within a short while. Without those bays, the only option is to park in the main car park, with a long journey to reach the shop. For me, this is impossible.

The normal parking bays are not wide enough to provide a safe exit and entrance to my car. This means I cannot go shopping at all, thanks to the indifference and lack of thought which has gone into the new arrangements.

One example of this is when I visited ______ ______ Department Store in ______ _____ .  All the disabled bays were cordoned off to allow for Covid queueing.
It is not just shops and businesses who are guilty. Some councils are also removing
disabled bays from on street parking on council property. One example of this is __________ __________

The attitude seems to be: “I’ve got to make changes so we can get rid of the disabled
parking spaces. That won’t cost us anything!”

Our rights are being breached and no-one seems to care! I hope you can persuade
people to re-think their actions and look after the needs of disabled people.
