Gem’s Fight for Equality

SHOCKING DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION IN 2020

Gem decided it was time for a new toaster and discovered the fight for equality has been put back 10 years due to Covid-19 and people’s thoughtless behaviour.  Gem Writes:-

♿️”DISABLED PEOPLE ARE NOT WELCOME IN 2020! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS DISCRIMINATION IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE WORLD? ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS BUY A TOASTER. FIRST I WENT TO THE RANGE, BUT THEY HAD BLOCKED OFF ALL THE DISABLED PARKING WTH NO ALTERNITIVE. THEN IN PC WORLD I COULDN’T WAIT IN LINE DUE TO A BLADDER INFECTION. THE MANAGER WOULDN’T LET ME SKIP THE QUEUE SO I HAD TO COME HOME”.

But it’s not all bad news, although the store didn’t answer Gem’s tweet to them they have at least made changes.   Making a difference is the main thing, but maybe recognising Gem’s work would have been nice?

With the Covid-19 crisis we all need to make comprimises … but people forget that for disabled people their whole lives are  a comprimise.

Black Lives Matter

Please watch this video in full – Gem speaks from the heart.  This is her introduction to the video:-
“Wow what a turbulent few weeks. Today I’m chatting about why Racism has always matted to me, sharing a little bit of my past, and how you can protest and be an activist from home in the Black Lives Matter movement. I’m sure I have said the wrong things, Im sure some may pick apart tiny elements of what I say in this video, I’m sure people will hear what they want to hear in what I say.. But at least I’m saying something, and at least I’m learning and being proactive. I have tried my best to help, and I hope these tips help you in your journey whatever that maybe. Fun fact, this video was over 20 minutes long, But in fear of saying the wrong thing, or in fear of offending anyone I cut it right down. I think that goes to show, we need more education”.
